Tom’s Favourite Descents
As ridden on 31/3/12, ride leader Tom linked together 4 of his favourite descents, pretty good xc workout required to get to and between them. There are other descents on the route but these stand out
1 – Goat Track – swoopy, rutted landrover tracks down from Castelaw…followed by a narrow sheep track descent, often off camber and just a couple of tyre widths wide. Interesting mix of speed at the start followed by a more technical challenge
2 – Scalextric – as the names implies, this descent has a couple of parallel tracks which occasionally cross over...you may even want to race your mates (at your own risk!). Fast, open descent which has a knack of throwing you into the 'interesting' bits at speed
3 – Poets – short, quick, rocky descent with some step/ corner combos down Poet’s Glen…finishes at a public road so get your moto skid on before
4 – Suicide Alley – so called for the occasional baby head sized rock in the middle of the line...so eyes front. Another short, quick, rocky descent with some useful natural berms.
