There is no way anyone has ridden all the way up to Mt Battock, unless on an electric steed. Went round this on 1st July, beware of a few new tracks as you approach Wester Cairn/ Mt Battock, I added a... read whole comment...

Description:-
A gentle easy climb, through the trees, out of the car park followed by a short descent onto the main track. There are five bar gates to negotiate and some fords as you follow the Water of Dye until the track runs out. Then if your fit enough it's a final ford to cross and a tough pedal straight up the hill or more likely a push/carry. Head onto the saddle between the Hill of Saughs and Stobie Hillock. Your now 8 miles / 2-3 hours walk from the car park. Its a 250m descent followed by a long, tough 500m ascent up onto Wester Cairn. It's then off to the East, up onto Mount Battock and the hard work is done. Continue East to Clachnabens rocky outcrop then its a mix of fairly technical, steep descent, on rocky track and wooded path eventually taking you back to your start point.
