Description:-
A cross country route following a fairly well worn footpath from Kenmore to the village of Applecross.
The route starts at the roadside and heads through a gate at tag 1. There is a lot of bushes and small trees close in on the path at this point, but you soon break out of it before the path starts to climb.
The surface of the sinlgetrack is typical west cost stuff - a fairly compacted base with the odd rock sticking through, some loose rocks lying around on the surface here and there, and every now and then a wet bit of peatbog.
From tag 1 to 2 it's along gentle climb, with the odd little steep bit which you might have to push on due to the combination of the slope and the loose surface. Although the trail on the map shows this route as one way, I actually did it there and back. If you do this the downhill from tag 2 to tag 1 is excellent fun.
From tag 2 to 3 the route is generally flat, and fairly easy going, with nothing too technical to worry about. Through the gate at tag 3 and it starts to head downhill.
There's a bridge at tag 4 to take you over the small river, before the only real techy part of the route arrives - the downhill from tag 5 to tag 6.
There's quite a drop to your left in places, and it can get quite steep now and then as you negotiate the odd step in the path. There is also a lot of loose rock on top of the path. You can ride it all though, down to the end of the singletrack at tag 6.
From tag 6 to the end it's a flat run out along the bottom of the glen, on a hardpacked road, that eventually reaches the main road at tag 7. Turn left and head round the bay to the finish point.
When I was there last a foot / cyclepath was being constructed along the side of the road on the left as you head for the village, so you'll have the option of getting off the road now I'd imagine.
