Description:-
This route definitely supports the "size doesn't matter" argument: although very short, the trail comprises some fantastic singletrack and takes in some of Scotland's best scenery. It also finishes at a hotel wher you have the opportunity to enjoy a post ride pint of the terrace overlooking the beautiful "silver sands of Morar"!
The route detailed here is based upon taking the Knoydart Ferry from Mallaig to Tarbet, but it is equally possible to start at Morar and simply do an out-and-back ride. If taking the ferry, the best option is to take the 1000 ferry to Inverie so as to allow yourself a few hours exploring Knoydart or enjoying the excellent food and drink at The Old Forge, before taking the afternoon crossing from Inverie to Tarbet.
The route:
From the pier at Tarbet, head South for about 1km, then take the right fork which will turn to singletrack shortly after passing Swordland Lodge. Simply continue along this trail! Shortly after passing the ruined Inverbeg Chapel, you will join the road at Bracorina. This quiet single track road leads to Morar - just follow it! At the T-junction turn right to head into the "centre" (so to speak!) of Morar.
Here you have the option of a post-ride refreshment at the Morar Hotel before either cycling the few miles North along the road or taking the train back to Mallaig.
