Description:-
This trail begins with a straightforward climb to Heights of Kinlochewe, heads round by Lochan Fada, then returns to Loch Maree via a technical singletrack descent through Gleann Bianasdail.
There are a couple of river crossings so this route may not be suitable after very heavy rain.
The route:
From the carpark, turn left to climb up the hill via the track that runs parallel to the river.
Where the road forks at Heights of Kinlochewe (tag 1), bear left and follow this trail as it narrows and leads towards Lochan Fada. Ignore the path to the right (tag 2) shortly after the bridge.
As you reach Lochan Fada, the trail deteriorates and the ground may be boggy in places. At the foot of the lochan, bear South, crossing the river you have been following (tag 3), then another (tag 4) slightly further round the SE shore.
Shortly after this second crossing, the trail begins to descend into the steep-sided glen, becoming more established as it does so. Simply follow this path down until you reach Loch Maree.
Upon meeting the lochside path (tag 5), turn left over the bridge and continue along this trail until you reach the carpark again.
