Description:-
South Chilterns Sixes is named as it takes in Six ups and Six downs across the Chilterns south of the M40.
It includes a couple of cracking descents directly south of the M40 and the usual Chilterns bridleway riding. In the summer the trail runs very quickly but can be muddy in the winter. Possible pub/refreshment stops include Christmas Common and Hambleden.
Not too many big climbs but the ascent up Hill Rd from the ridgeway at the M40, up the fall side of the Chilterns can be tough. The length could prove especially tiring in winter if muddy.
Technically not very challenging, although speed can be built up on some downs.
Best descents, are out the back of Hanger wood which has a couple of rocks unusual in the Chilterns :-). Also the descent from Frieth through Hatchett wood makes good use of the low altitudes found in this part of the country.
