Mabie forest lies just of the A710 around 6.5km south of Dumfries. Grid ref: NX950709

Description:-
Mabie Forest is the original 7 Stanes trail centre and has green, blue and red graded loops as well as the orange graded "Dark Side", a mini-X track and a skills area.

The Shed (link opposite) sells bikes and bike bits, has a fleet of hire bikes and their cafe does excellent meals, cakes and light snacks to fuel you up for riding!

The Mabie House Hotel (link opposite) offers restaurant food, hotel accommodation and has a few camping pods, and there is also budget and group accommodation available a few hundred yards from the trailhead at Marthrown of Mabie (link opposite).

A great route, felt a lot more 'natural XC' than the likes of Glentress which seems very mincured and up then down, this meandered up, across and down the terrain and it was very enjoyable. Worth anot... read whole comment...

A nice, varied route which is neither too physically demanding nor technically challenging. A perfect route for beginners ready to move on from blue-graded trails.

Description:-
The phoenix trail has a good mixture of natural style rooty sections through the trees as well as some more obviously man made kitty litter sections, with well thought out berms, jumps, etc. Like Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie, Mabie has lots of little climbs and lots of little descents, rather than focussing on one big hill.

The route is well signposted - simply follow the red markers!
