Description:-
Visiting Chopwell woods for nearly 30 yrs, I've used my local knowledge to link up all the best parts into a cracking ride. If you like your rides fast, techy and entertaining then you should really enjoy this route. What Chopwell lacks in height, it gains with sharp banks and gully's which are steeper than you would expect.
This ride has a bit of everything, from roots, jumps, berms, really steep loamy chutes, rocks, you name it! Ive thrown in the red power line official trail but most of it is secret sweet natural single track! I often nail it on my hardtail but its better with a full sus enduro bike.
Just watch out for walkers on some of the single track. Especially on weekends. Please be courteous so as not to annoy the locals. There's a fair bit of fire road to link everything up but its worth it. All the numbered points on the route are the beginning of the best bits!
Toward the end of the route and the east of the forest from marker 18 (cyclefix descent) there are loads of tracks to session so be sure to try out a few options! Can be ridden all year round but amazing and twice as fast when dry!
You can park in the main car park and start this ride from the middle but i think its best to park at Lintzford lay-by and start at the bottom of the wood. This way you end on a good descent. Enjoy! :)
