Description:-
Swinley forest is spilt into several sections under different ownership. This section is owned and managed by The Crown Estate, comprising of 2600 acres of mainly Scots Pine woodland. It is located between Bracknell and Bagshot to the west of the A322. Cycling is permitted on hard tracks and within a specific expert mountain bike area.
The trailhead known as the 'Look Out' is a Multiactivity centre, including MTBing, Go Ape, off Road Segwaying, Kids playground and Discovery centre. There is also a cafe and during the summer you can hire bikes.
Permits are required to ride here they are £2 for a day or approximately £20 for the year though Gorrick. Some of the money goes to Berks on Bikes and Gorrick to help with Trail development and repair.
Although the MTBing permit costs the parking is free.
The ground here is very sandy as which the rest of Swinley forest which provides good drainage all year long, but can turn into a fine paste in the wet which is not good for drive chains and disc brake pads.
The trails are general woodland XC, but there are some downhill/freeride trails in the south of the forest and in the middle is the famous jump gully which is always busy.
