Description:-
The Old School and Magic 8 are the red and black routes respectively. As there is no significant elevation on the estate, there are no major climbs. However, the twisty rooty character of the singletrack here means this is not just a pootle round the woods so some degree of fitness helps! As there is little in the way of hardcore-paved trail here, this route can become muddy and slippy after heavy rain.
The route is well signposted and maps are available from Rik's. Simply follow the trail markers.
Where the black first forks off from the red (tag 1), you have the option of missing out the main part of the black - if you continue along the red, the two converge again after a few hundred metres of red trail and a few km of black (tag 2).
The trails split again towards the end (tag 3), providing another option of taking either the red of black option back to the castle.
