Description:-
Sherwood Pines Forest Park is 3300 acres and the largest single tract of forest open to the public in the East Midlands.
The forest provides a great venue for many activities. The cycling facilities provide something for every one, from family cyclists to experienced off road riders. The way marked walking trails meander through some of the oldest parts of the forest. There are also many other tracks and trails to be explored.
The forest is not as big as it first seems and it is fairly easy to get your bearings once you pop out on to a fire road. Trails also come and go with forestry operations. Everything is suitable for all year round riding but some sections of the forest (especially the most popular ones!) do get boggy when it is wet. The sandy soil and trees mean the trails usually dry out fast though.
There is also a growing "bike park" area which contains jumps, drops and some North Shore. Additional facilities near the main car park also include a bike shop and cafe. Trail development is still ongoing.
There are several play areas to entertain the kids of all ages. The visitor area has a cafe, toilets, cycle hire.
You can also Go Ape! and have some fun in the forest at the UK’s No.1 Tree Top Adventure.
Please note the closing time when you arrive as we now operate contract closing in the forest park. A release fee will be chargeable for vehicles left beyond this time.
