Legolam. I was looking for something to do in that area last w/e (3/11/12). Decided to do it after finding your report on another website. Other than the very sticky conditions there was no problem following the route as reported other than being surrounded by foxhounds at Capheaton and being turned back by the undergrowth when I tried to use the 'bridleway' through Brandy Well Farm to get to Bradford. So I accessed the bridleway at point 174. Apart from one field which had been cultivated, the rest had all been grazed by sheep and were rideable. |

This route (in the opposite direction) is featured in Derek Purdy's Northumberland guide. I did it this way round in the height of summer 2011 and have to say that many of the bridleways were so overgrown that I had to walk a fair proportion of it. Are they clearer now? |
