The Logie Kirk/Sherrifmuir climb is a killer and with a heavier full susser it takes grinds to a halt very quickly. Superb scenery and views though. Blackford up is another heavy climb to be rewarded with some nice single track round the north of the Glen Devon reservoir. A walker was sceptical about access but it turned out to be fine. Sucked into a false sense of security as from the signpost saying Tillicoultry 5 miles, the path disappeared and a very strenuous walk across very uneven ground with knolls stopping the wheels of the bike. Probably about a 2 mile push. Managed to find a bog and went over the bars - must be what the post in the ground was marking... The singletrack drop from Andrew Gannell hill is fantastic and was worth it in itself I started/finished in Alloa - 32 miles in 5hrs 50 with a stop for lunch all the others on the uphill bits. Make sure weather is totally clear as fog can come in quickly at the part where the path is poorly defined. |
