As wildhighlander says, you can go Ullapool to Ardgay to get the help of the prevailing wind. However, the view Westwards of the Coigach mountains and over to the Summer Isles is a fine enough welcome to make it worth fighting the wind. |

A route that's not difficult, and you get to say that you've cycled your way across Scotland. I did it from east to west on a calm day, but you might want to consider doing it the other way if it's windy ( usually from the west in Ullapool ) so you're not battling the weather all the way. |

The D&E Coaches Inverness - Durness bus service operates a bicycle trailer and can be a handy option for those not wishing to cycle back. |
