Notes on Editing Venue Details
Venue Title
Venue titles can have up to 25 characters and can consist of any alphanumeric characters or any of these & ) - (
Anything else will be rejected. They must also not already exist in the system (you will be told if they do).
Venue Type
There are four different venue types. For a full description of what each type means click here.
Forecast Num
This number tells the system which of the BBC's regional forecasts to display for this venue. Click here to see how to figure out the correct number for a particular location.
Facilities
Just tick the box if the venue has the facility in question.
Location
The whole site is based on knowing where a particular venue is located, so it is important to supply accurate latitude and longitude information. If you don’t have this to hand, it is very easy to obtain it by clicking on the ‘Select location on a map’ button.
Directions
In addition to the location of the venue on a map, it is often useful to have a few words of description about how to get there. This can be anything from a blow by blow account of a complex out-of-the-way route, to a simple ‘its on your left as you come out of town on the A96’ etc.
Description
This is the main area for you to describe everything you think it is useful to know about this venue. Feel free to describe anything you like, but it is often useful to talk about the facilities that are onsite, how popular the venue is, any history you know of as to how it came into being, and an overview of the type of trails that are there. This is a bit of a gray area, but as a guiding principle the description section should only be used to describe objective facts about the venue. Views, opinions and reviews should be entered in the comments section for that venue. Click here for more guidance.
Notes
This field is optional. If you wish you can explain the changes you have made on the rest of the page or let people know why you changed it in the way you have. These notes do not show up on the main venue page itself, they show up on the change history page against the record of your changes.
